Our dedication to digital dental technology enables us to provide our patients with outstanding dental care. The technology we utilize allows us to arrive at treatment decisions with great accuracy and precision, thereby facilitating informed decision-making so that our patients can make wise choices concerning their oral health.
CARI-VU: CAVITY DETECTION WITHOUT THE NEED FOR X-RAYS!
CariVu™ is a compact, portable cavity detection device that uses patented transillumination technology to help identify cavities and cracks in teeth. By hugging the tooth and bathing it in safe, near-infrared light, CariVu’s transillumination technology makes the enamel appear transparent while porous lesions trap and absorb the light. This allows us to see through the tooth exposing its structure and the actual structure of any cavities with very high accuracy.
VELSCOPE ORAL CANCER DETECTION: A 2-MINUTE EXAM THAT COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE
The VELscope system allows us to visualize abnormalities in the mucosal tissues of your lips, mouth and upper throat. In just two minutes, with no rinses, stains or discomfort, the VELscope's blue light will "excite" molecules mucosal tissues. (called "fluorophores") In turn, those fluorophores emit their own light deep within the layers of oral (fluorescence), in shades of green, yellow and red. The VELscope's proprietary filter enhances the contrast between normal and abnormal tissue, allowing us to easily detect suspicious lesions that cannot be seen with the naked eye alone.
Digital radiography reduces radiation exposure up to 90% using a standard dental x-ray generator as its radiation source. High resolution images are produced that can be manipulated with computer software. We can colorize the x-ray image to spot areas of early bone loss, zoom in to visualize suspicious areas, and compare new x-ray images with older images to evaluate the progression of deteriorating fillings. Digital x-rays also allow us to see cavities before they form, and by implementing adjunctive prescription-based fluoride therapy or calcium phosphate supplementation, we can reverse the cavity so that a filling is not needed.
SIMPLANT: VIRTUAL DENTAL IMPLANT TREATMENT FOR PRECISE IMPLANT PLACEMENT
We employ the latest technology available in dental implantology and use SimPlant® dental implant treatment planning software. computer software program allows us to import a 3-dimensional CAT scan image into the program and precisely plan dental implant placement. Based on the width and density of your jawbone and the exact location of The SimPlant® neighboring tooth roots and nerves, we can virtually position dental implants in the SimPlant® computer software program. Once your implants have been positioned within the computer program, a customized surgical guide can be fabricated to fit your mouth and allow placement of your dental implant into positions that have been predetermined with the SimPlant® computer software.
SOFT-TISSUE DIODE LASER
Laser periodontal therapy can be used to eradicate periodontal disease without the need for incisions and stitches. There is minimal discomfort (sometimes, you won't even need novocaine) and the healing period is much quicker than traditional periodontal surgery. A small, flexible laser fiber (about the thickness of three human hairs) is gently inserted between the tooth and the gum tissue. When the laser is activated, the wavelength of light that is emitted immediately kills bacteria and clears away infection. In most cases, an entire mouth can be lased in just two 2-hour sessions. The typical recovery period is less than 24 hours, so there's no need to worry about missing school or work.
CEREC SINGLE APPOINTMENT CROWNS, INLAYS & ONLAYS
Most dental restorative methods require more than one visit to the dentist. This means that on the first visit, you get an injection of anesthesia, your tooth prepared, an impression taken, and a temporary restoration put on your tooth. You make a second appointment for a couple of weeks later, get another injection, have the temporary pried off (if it hasn't fallen off already), and have a permanent restoration put on. With CEREC, the procedure is done in a single appointment, start to finish.
DIAGNODENT: LASER CARIES DETECTION
Sometimes it’s difficult for us to diagnose cavities, especially in the pits and grooves on the biting surfaces of back teeth. traditional way to check for cavities was by looking for visual signs of decay on the tooth, checking x-rays or feeling for a soft area with a dental explorer. We utilize the Diagnodent to help locate even the smallest amount of decay, and in many instances, microscopic decay. The Diagnodent is laser technology that scans your teeth with harmless pulses of light. When a cavity is present, fluorescent light of a different wavelength bounces back to the sensor, which is translated to a digital read-out. The higher the number, the greater the amount of decay in the tooth.
Intra-oral cameras allow us to quickly and easily photograph your teeth. The resulting images are immediately projected onto a computer monitor and then imported into our dental practice software so that we can examine existing fillings, cracks in teeth, gum recession and decay under extremely high magnification.
