Dr. Kristina Rodriguez Salaverry is a periodontist whose clinical expertise bridges advanced periodontal therapy, implant-aesthetic integration, and diagnostic precision in support of whole-mouth health and restoration. Her work centers on preserving natural dentition when possible, assessing systemic risk factors that impact oral tissues, and planning tailored treatment pathways for patients with gum disease, tooth loss, halitosis, or complex restorative needs.
After completing her undergraduate degree with honors at Dartmouth College, Dr. Salaverry earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, then completed residency training in periodontics at Columbia where she also obtained a Master of Science degree. Her graduate research examined the prevalence of periodontal disease in patients with advanced heart failure, reflecting her commitment to understanding how oral biology intersects with systemic health.
Areas of clinical focus include periodontal evaluation and risk assessment, non-surgical and surgical management of periodontal disease, aesthetic soft tissue therapy around implants and natural dentition, treatment of halitosis, and periodontal support for restorative and implant-based treatment plans.
Dr. Salaverry has served as an instructor of clinical dental medicine at Columbia University in the Section of Oral and Diagnostic Sciences (Division of Periodontics). In 2013, she became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Outside of dentistry, she is an accomplished violinist with the New York Repertory Orchestra and is active in yoga, Pilates, cooking, musical theater, and the New York Junior League.
